sparqs Staff Workshop relaunches

March 7, 2011

in training & support

For some years, sparqs has offered a workshop to staff involved in the learning experience in both the higher education and college sectors. This workshop has recently been revised and updated, with the help of key sector practitioners and trial runs in a number of institutions.

The workshop explores both the theory and practice of student engagement in a highly interactive and reflective way, and can be adapted in certain ways to meet specific needs or challenges of institutions.

It will be formally relaunched at our National Conference on 31 March.

The redevelopment of the workshop forms a part of wider sectoral work sparqs is undertaking to explore the link between student engagement and staff professional development. As such, it is working with key sector agencies to explore a range of issues, including how the topic of student engagement is included in institutions’ induction processes for new teaching staff or in professional development qualifications such as postgraduate certificates in academic practice or the Teaching Qualification in Further Education.
