Major reports in 2012 – and how institutions can input

December 8, 2011

in sparqs general

As part of a wider development of how it supports, collects, shares and reports effective practice and trends in student engagement, sparqs will be establishing annual engagement meetings with institutions and students’ associations in the New Year. To facilitate this each institution has been allocated a named member of the sparqs team who will be their key contact. In this way, the sparqs contacts will develop a better understanding of student engagement within individual institutions, helping us share practice that they have developed and ensuring they can access the appropriate services and projects which sparqs offers.

We will be contacting key people within institutions about this very soon.

The first meeting will be a chance to discuss our recent annual report and explore how the work of sparqs can best serve the needs of institutions and learn from the challenges and successes of their student engagement activities.

It will also be an opportunity to learn about the practice, trends and developments identified by staff and student officers across the sector. This will inform our forthcoming Peer Practice Library, which we hope will become a vibrant destination for those seeking good examples of student engagement, but it will also inform a major publication scheduled for summer 2012.

This report will aim to take stock of developments in student engagement, highlight key trends, and explore the likely challenges for the coming years. Based on the data and ideas which institutions give us, we hope this will shape our student engagement and ensure that our resources are best geared towards meeting the needs of institutions and students’ associations around Scotland.
